Meet Oscar the Grouch – and yes, he’s every bit as lovable as he sounds!

Oscar is an 8–10 year old Heeler who has been through a long, tough journey. He came to us heartworm positive and has spent months going through treatment and strict activity restrictions. Now that he’s finally cleared and finished, he is so ready to bust out of the shelter and start living his happy, carefree life.

Oscar can be a little grouchy at first—hence his name—but once he trusts you, his true personality shines. He becomes a fun, friendly, loyal companion who loves attention and absolutely adores treats. This guy has the “grumpy on the outside, soft on the inside” thing mastered.

Because he can be particular and set in his ways, older kids would be best for him. He hasn’t been able to truly socialize with other dogs due to his heartworm restrictions, but he has shown interest in wanting to play and seems to enjoy their presence. He also did not react to our cats, which is a nice bonus for multi-pet homes.

Oscar is food-motivated, quirky, and full of personality. After all he’s been through, he deserves a comfy couch, a patient adopter, and a place to finally call home.
